Kitchen Team Member
We’re looking for someone to join the kitchen team at our Cellar Door restaurant. This is an open-level role, with the starting position, from 3rd Cook up to Sous Chef, defined according to each candidate’s experience, technical skills and career path.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare and cook dishes for the restaurant, following our menus and quality standards.
- Help receive, store and preserve raw materials and food supplies.
- Plate, present and finish dishes before they go out to the dining room.
- Keep the kitchen, utensils and equipment clean, organised and hygienic.
- Follow and promote food hygiene and safety standards (HACCP).
- Depending on experience and seniority, help develop menus, guide other team members, and step in for the head chef when needed.
What we’re looking for
- Experience in a professional kitchen (no minimum experience required for candidates starting out; proven experience valued for more senior roles).
- A culinary or pastry qualification, a related professional course, or equivalent work experience.
- Knowledge of food hygiene and safety practices.
- A genuine interest in food and teamwork, in a restaurant and wine-tourism setting.
- Availability to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays, according to service needs.
- For more senior roles (1st Cook, Sous Chef), previous experience leading a team and running a kitchen section independently is valued.

The role at a glance
- Location: Cellar Door Restaurant, Vila Chã de Ourique, Cartaxo
- Department: Kitchen
- Contract: Fixed-term or permanent, depending on the profile selected
- Hours: Full-time, 40h/week, with one fixed and one rotating day off. Lunch only Tuesday to Thursday and Sunday; lunch and dinner Friday and Saturday.
- Level: Between Level V (3rd Cook) and Level IX (Sous Chef) on the AHRESP/SITESE pay scale, set according to experience and skills shown during selection
- Pay: Set according to profile and experience, plus a €10.46 meal allowance (on a meal card) and other benefits under the applicable collective agreement
