"Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero"
The title of this article is a verse from one of the most famous Odes ever written by the poet Horace (65 BC – 8 BC), one of the greatest poets of ancient Rome. In Book I of his Odes, he writes: “Dum loquimur, fugerit invida aetas: carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero.” This was translated by the late David Mourão-Ferreira as: “Envious time flees while we are speaking, therefore seize the day, trusting as little as possible in tomorrow.”
